Yesterday, Mr Russell and Mrs Irish took the Year 10’s to 4 contemporary design shops in London to kick-start their GCSE Controlled Assessment task. Students were focusing their research on 2 design eras (Mid-20th century design and Modernist) and 2 design briefs (lighting and small storage). Looking at the products firsthand allowed
the students to be inspired to be a little more creative with their own ideas, understand how the products are made, and see there is a bright and lucrative future in Product and Furniture Design – the sofa they are posing on costs a mere £19,000!
